Middlesex County Competitions


There are different types of County events as follows:

BAGCAT & Youth Competition

Any of the Club’s swimmers that achieve a County qualification time should enter this competition.
There are qualification times for each single year age bands, as follows: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 years & over. Swimmers age is determined as at midnight on the last day of competition.
There are relay events for ages 9, 10/11, 12/13, 14/15, and 16 years & over. In addition to the normal event awards, British Age Group (BAG) category awards are made to the top 3 swimmers returning the best BAG points total in each age band from swims in the 4 or 5 categories: Sprint, Form, Distance, I.M. and 100’s. There are also stroke awards for boys 15 & over and Girls 14 & over.

Development Meets

This event is intended for swimmers who have not reached a BAGCAT & Youth competition qualification time on an event/s.
To qualify, a swimmer must have achieved a time not faster than the upper time for that standard. A swimmer achieving a time faster than the upper time for the highest standard will be given a “Speeding Ticket”.

Speed Swimming (Short Course – 25m pool)

There are qualifying times for the Open, Junior and the 14 years & under events.

The age categories are defined as:

Open – 17 years or over at midnight on the last day of the championships
Junior - 16 years or under at midnight on the last day of the championships
14 years & under - 14 years or under at midnight on the last day of the championships

Long Course Competition (50m pool)

There are qualification times for each single year age bands, as follows: 9, 10, 11, 12/13, 14/15, 16 years and over.
Results can be used as qualifying times for the ASA London Swimming Championships. The competition is also useful to National Qualifiers to have a practice at swimming events long course (50m pool)
